Even more ork raiders - Orktober 2025

In a time of misinformation and outright superstition about the ork xenos race, the fall of the Outpost 53 in one of the moons from Mufidah III and the sack of their stockpiles against several raiding parties is an exercise of how misshandling imperial knowledge about our enemies can be the cause of utter failures of any battle plans and costly causalties and lost of the resources of the Emperor [...]

Many of you, young officers and future platoon commanders, lieutenants or even higher ranks of the mighty force of the astra millitarum, should stop hearing the stupid stories circulating among the uncultured masses out there and concentrate in your battle manuals. You've been granted access to the, sanctioned, reviewed and blessed informs and scriptures, brought by the mercy of the Emperor and his servants for a reason.

From the conception of the ork as a stupid race, incapable of more than uncalculated savagery that may plant the seeds of a failure in a meticolous plan against them, to the simply nonsensical missconceptions about their nature such as the orks will throw themselves to their doom, materialize weaponry or supplies only by thinking in them or the foolish tales about orks not seeing purple colours and thus thinking that other xenos or camouflage in that spectrum will help you in anything but getting blown apart by their weapons.

Today we bring you an example of how that plain buffoonery, provided to you among the general public by of those unsanctioned encyclopedias that you may get access in your personal holo-tablets, may cost us everything, as the now deceased colonel Sellomo Dannena knew in the battle of Haegalan fields, Outpost 53, in the moons of Mudifah III.

col. Dannena planned what in theory would have been the fairest use of the stronghold and the strategical reserves under his command. However, he got several missconceptions about the natural savagery of the orks.

The orks, especially those who pertain to what the xenospecialist and the Inquisition has labelled as "Goff" subculture, will launch themselves into a brutal close quarter combat. However, that doesn't mean they do not have some respect for their lives, or at least enought not to just jump into firing lines without control.

These orks are usually accompanied by small suborkoid creatures called informally as "gretchins" as you may have already seen in your databases. The troops stationed at Outpost 53 didn't expect that the orks, after several failed attempts at storming the main defence lines, would start sending waves of those small orkoids before each of the main wave. Usually causing havok, as they're more difficult to aim especially when battlefield debris and ork casualties start to pile-up. That translated in a waste of valuable ammunation of the Emperor, and the firing lines couldn't stop these orkoids pinning several squads while the main ork "boy" hordes advanced. This was recognized by the strategic command as one of the multiples errors in the cascade committed by col. Dannena command structure.

However, what you may not recognize is that actual ork bosses, while not as brilliant and guided by the light of the Emperor as a superior human commander, are capable of some low-level tactical thinking. Despite the usual missconception about the orks being an unending green tide of monster without any personallity, several of the ork subcultures may be more especialized in different approach in their combat following different sets of traditions. But you all should already know this if you have read the sanctioned and correct lexicanums.

The ork raider bosses of this "Goff" subculture cleverly brought several small amounts of orks from the "Blood Axe" subculture. Their boys tend to use some kind of uneffective camouflage but trying to recplicate the might of the imperial superior tactics, like bolter fire suppression in different overlaying lines of fire against the weaker spots of Southeast entrance, or infiltration squads. col. Dannena expected the suicidal waves on North and Northwestern sectors, therefore the Southern sector defences were less guarded. When the surface combat erupted on the southern sectors, the squads stationed inside the complex responded and had to abandon their duties in the stockpiles.

Without patrols in the corridors and the squads outside being suppressed, several infiltration kill teams entered the complex. They were just enought to setup bombs and destroy a small portion of the ammunition. But such quantity of ammo was capabe of producing the total collapse of the Northern sector, killing an entire platoon and condemnign the entire defence. col. Dannena just have time to realize its complete misscalculation of the situation moments before the explosion and storming of the command module by the ork kill teams.

The orks got a large quantity of the resources despite the explosion, more than enough to refuel their ships, and abandon the moon with a large supply before the imperial navy patrol that responded to the call from col. Dannenna at the start of the attack could reach the outpost. 73 men sacrificed their lives for nothing.

With this small batch of gretchins and the start of the old-school ork kill team, That's a productive orktober as I initially did not have a plan.

I used the traditional artwork for the Blood Axes camo and tried to mix different, slightly similar patterns to base them in the camouflaged-yet-goofy style of the old Blood Axes.

Maybe the next month it will be a nid-vember update, who knows. Until then,

Adrian's out.
